About Hairdressing Apprenticeships
With Andrew Collinge you can go as far as your talent will take you. Our top quality hairdressing apprenticeships will give you valuable National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
You will start your hairdressing career on an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing to achieve NVQ at Level 2, which will normally take between 21 to 24 months to complete.
During your hairdressing apprenticeship, you will cover every aspect of hairdressing. This includes the following:
- Cutting and styling
- Fashion colouring
- Perming techniques
- Customer care
Our hairdressing apprenticeships also include Functional Skills which includes Maths and English, however certain GCSE grades carry exemptions from Functional Skills.
After completing the NVQ at Level 2, you may have the opportunity to move onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing. This gives you a higher level of hairdressing skills and the opportunity to obtain an NVQ Level 3 qualification. This advanced qualification will give you the opportunity to learn more about creative hairdressing as well as the chance to become involved in hair shows and photoshoots.
What will I do as a hairdressing Apprentice?
Whilst training as a hairdressing apprentice, you will be working in one of a number of selected hairdressing salons throughout Merseyside including Wirral, Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester. This will give you an invaluable experience in dealing with clients and working as part of a team. Your salon will help with your training on a daily basis and offer styling sessions for you to practice your skills.
How do I learn?
During your hairdressing apprenticeship, you’ll be given day release to attend tutor sessions in our superbly equipped training centres in Liverpool or Birkenhead where our experienced tutors will give you theory and practice in every aspect of hairdressing. Our hairdressing training salons run on a commercial basis in busy shopping areas, so you will have every opportunity to work on real clients early on in your training.
What else does the training offer?
Joining Andrew Collinge Training will give you the opportunity to participate in specialised courses such as dressing long hair, barbering, colouring and retail. You’ll gain further hairdressing experience entering our Intersalon Competitions, whilst you’ll also have the option to observe demonstrations by the Andrew Collinge Artistic Team.
